Download Instructions

Customers who have a Service Agreement with Daetwyler R&D can download software using a temporary FTP account. You can also access Update Notes and Reference Manuals for your Daetwyler Products.

You must contact Daetwyler R&D Customer Support to make arrangements. We will set up a temporary FTP account for you and place the software you need in your account for a limited time (then it will be deleted).

After you have your account, use these instructions to download and install software.

Download Instructions

The Daetwyler R&D FTP server is a secure server. The FTP client used to transfer files must support encryption. We recommend FileZilla, a free, secure FTP client.

The following instructions are for FileZilla, a free FTPS client for Windows. If you are using a different secure FTP client, please consult its documentation.

  1. On the File menu, click Site Manager.
  2. Click the New Site button.
  3. In the Site details area, enter or select the following:
    HOST    ftp.daetwyler-rd.com
Servertype   FTP over SSL (explicit encryption)
    Logontype   Normal
  4. Enter your Username and Password, as given to you by Daetwyler R&D Customer Support.
  5. Click Connect.
Note that there is no need to save this information. Your username and password expires after a few hours. The next time you need to connect to the Daetwyler R&D FTP server, you will have a different username and password.
  6. The Accept certificate? window displays. Click the checkbox next to Always trust this certificate to turn it on. Click Accept.
  7. The connection is made.
Downloadable files on the Daetwyler R&D FTP site display on the right side.
  8. On the left side, in the upper area, open the location on your computer where you want to put the downloaded file.
  9. On the remote site (right side of window), click on the file you want, hold the mouse button, drag it to the left side (lower area), and release the mouse button
  10. As the file is transferred, the status displays in the lower pane.
  11. When the file transfer is complete, click the red X in the toolbar at the top of the window to break the connection.

Decompress the File

The file is compressed into a self-extracting archive. To decompress the file:

  1. In My Computer, open the folder where you stored the file you downloaded. Tip! If this computer does not have a CD-burner attached, move this file to a computer with a CD-burner before you extract it.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to decompress the file.

After the file has decompressed, you will have two files: the orignal downloaded file (the self-extracting archive, with .exe extension) and an Image file (with an .iso extension).

Burn to a CD

The softtware (the .ISO file) must be burned to a CD before you can install it.

  1. Open your CD Burning software.
  2. Find the option to burn a Disc Image.
  3. Burn the .iso file to a CD.

You can now use the CD to load the software. Note: You should also have the document Upgrading Collage, which includes instructions for loading the software.

You can delete the original compressed file and the .iso file when you are sure the CD you burned works correctly.

Note: Only Daetwyler technicians can install software on Solaris and Linux computers---servers, RTI's, and GRAVOSTAR HS. We can load the software from the CD onto your Solaris/Linux computers over the modem.
