Daetwyler presents a new tool to help gravure printers save money with more accurate ink purchases.
The Ink Volume Calculator (IVC) can calculate the ink needed for PostScript, PDF, and TIFF images, either full-up or one-up, or for Collage jobs.
For images, preview the image, select one or more colors, and zoom in for a closer look. Rotate, mirror or scale images to match actual output for the most accurate calculations.
Select the output device: GRAVOSTAR (Metric or English) or Helio with DTG front-end.
Set the engraving parameters, such as screen, angle, cell sizes, the gamma, sharpness, or DTG gradations that will be used when engraving.
If using one-up images, combine images into the group that will be engraved in one job and specify the number of steps and repeats.
Use Color Block to set size, color and density to calculate ink needs for special cylinders, such as a varnish cylinder.
For gravure printers who engrave Collage jobs but don't have ready access to a Collage computer with the built-in Ink Volume Calculator, use this stand-alone IVC with a Collage archive. Select one or more Collage jobs and calculate the ink usage.
The IVC calculates the Area and the Volume. Adjust the number of impressions and the Ink Release values as needed. Print the report to any Windows printer.

Note: This Ink Volume Calculator is different from the IVC program that is included with Collage and Collage-E.
