MDC Max Daetwyler AG announces that their Dayton, Ohio division has become an independent company with a focus on research and development. The new Daetwyler R&D Corporation will target new markets for advanced micro-machining including printed electronics, specialty coatings, films, and other similar uses. Examples of current development projects include high-precision position and environmental controls to permit accuracies of less than 1 micrometer. To exhibit these capabilities, Daetwyler R&D can produce special application cylinders for customers at the Dayton facility.
Daetwyler R&D will also market their expertise in sub-micron control, engineering and machining to external companies who need project design assistance. If necessary, other Daetwyler facilities can be called upon to manufacture highly-accurate parts, bringing all aspects of a project under one company.
Part of their on-going responsibilities to MDC Max Daetwyler AG, is the primary development of gravure engrave heads, the Collage Layout System, and the GRAVOSTAR 857 engraver. Gravure printing is an industry Daetwyler R&D will continue to support, with new products planned for exhibition at Drupa 2008.

A worldwide network consisting of 40 subsidiaries and agencies supports the industry with high-precision machines, doctor blades and pre-press equipment.
